Changing behaviors and establishing new habits is a complex processes. We've all been there (e.g., losing weight, managing stress). In this talk, we'll discuss a framework for understanding our stuttering clients' readiness to change, and how their readiness is a critical component in their therapeutic outcomes. We'll talk about the five "stages of change" and how we can apply that to our clinical work with adolescents and adults who stutter to maximize their engagement and outcomes.

Naomi Rodgers, PhD, CCC-SLP is an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her program of research is inspired by her personal and professional experiences with stuttering, with a primary focus on the psychosocial factors associated with stuttering and its therapy.
